Storyline:
Wealthy, brilliant, and meticulous Ted Crawford, a structural engineer in Los Angeles, shoots his wife and entraps her lover. The prosecutor is Willy Beachum, a hotshot who's soon to join a fancy civil-law firm, told by everyone it's an open and shut case. Storyline:

Travolta in Talks for Get Shorty

MGM is in talks with John Travolta to reprise his role of Chili Palmer in Be Cool, the sequel to Get Shorty, which was directed by Barry Sonnenfeld.

Variety reports that the follow-up begins after Palmer, the savvy Miami loan shark-turned-movie producer, hatches a hit film and then a bomb. He then becomes the promoter of a struggling singer who is being pursued by the Russian mafia.

The trade adds that the talks with Travolta coincide with growing expectations that Brett Ratner will come aboard as the film's director, after sparking to a script draft by Peter Steinfeld that emboldened the studio to move forward aggressively.

Ratner owes his next picture to New Line who are hoping he will helm Rush Hour 3, but it is far from clear that the sequel will be ready in the short term, in which case MGM would have to make a deal with New Line. Travolta, who is currently filming Ladder 49, will next star in Artisan's The Punisher and follow that with A Love Song for Bobby Long. Then he will turn his attention to either Dimension's Harvey remake or Be Cool.

Quinn, Scott & Fenn Join Showtime's Cavedweller

Aidan Quinn, singer Jill Scott and Sherilyn Fenn have joined Kyra Sedgwick and Kevin Bacon in Showtime's original movie Cavedweller.

An adaptation of Dorothy Allison's novel of the same name, the movie centers on Delia (Sedgwick), who leaves her abusive husband (Quinn) and their two young daughters to join a rock group as a singer-songwriter and starts a new life, giving birth to a third daughter with the band's lead singer (Bacon). After the lead singer's death, Delia returns to her hometown to try to reconnect with the daughters she abandoned, and has to confront her ex-husband.

Grammy-nominated Scott will play another member of the rock group and a close friend of Delia's. Fenn will play Delia's hometown friend.

Lisa Cholodenko will direct from a script by Anne Meredith.
